Ep. 169 - The Masculine Warrior (w. Malcolm)

Image
This is one of those recordings that I'm ready and willing to admit I didn't really know what I'd come out with on the other end. But when you see someone doing great work and giving their all for a cause that you also believe in, you reach out and say Hello. I came across Malcolm 's content a few weeks ago and being an active supporter of Men's work over the past few years myself, I felt compelled to reach out and show some love. As a coach and co-founder of the MALE MTL community & Men's group, I had to tip my hat off to Malcolm for his involved and genuine commitment to creating a space of safe communication, bonding and support for the Men out there who truly feel they have no space or place to speak the truth of their emotions or concerns. Malcolm is one of those calm, genuine and attentive souls that you just can't ignore. Our conversation, as impromptu as it was, stands as a true testament to what happens when like-minded souls...

Ep. 143 - Fulfillment Through Clarity (w. Michael Cazayoux)

Image
Every time I hit 'Publish' and an episode gets released into The Universe, I often take pause - and realize that it's still there. I'm talking about that wonderful sense of excitement, gratitude, and respect that has always characterized every one of these amazing interviews. It's a humbling thing to realize that, behind the achievements, the celebrity, the notoriety, the expertise, if one is willing to humble yourself and listen, you have the opportunity to get to know an incredible human being. Today's guest is no different. I had been a big fan of my next guest for a really long time as I greatly admired this warrior's journey. As a back-to-back CrossFit Games World Cup Champion(2012, 2013) Michael Cazayoux is no stranger to the importance of one's mindset when overcoming seemingly insurmountable obstacles. As a Coach, being well-accustomed to the unique process of self-examination, he specializes in helping clients “get out...

Ep. 142 - Open Your Heart & Embrace Fear (w. Cam MacDougall)

Image
I was pretty much convinced that this conversation was going to be about Fitness, Nutrition, Breath Work and healthy habits. Seeing as how my next guest's expertise revolves around these topics, you'd be forgiven for assuming that it'd be an easy fit for a conversation. However, as these things do, 5mn into it...those assumptions took a Swan Dive out the window. This is why I'm always honest when I tell people I never really know where these conversations are gonna go even when I hit Record. And today's exchange can serve as yet another example as to why that's actually a good thing. As High Performance, Breath & Strength Coach, Cam MacDougall and I had never actually met or exchanged before this call. But as soon as we got into it, I was introduced to a guy with a troubled past, a colourful journey, some pretty liberating truths as well as a sense of purpose I had never experienced before. Filled with an honest, vulnerable account of hi...

Ep. 134 - Clarity & Confidence (w. Karlo Vieux)

Image
Do you truly know the price of Success?  I want you to take a second to ponder on that one...You don't have to give me an answer...but I do expect you to at the very least think about it as we welcome my next guest who, as you'll soon get to hear, has in more ways than one not only paid the price but eventually, after some soul-searching and eventual clarity, decided to say "Enough" and call it a day. As a producer, songwriter, keyboard virtuoso and well-rounded musical talent, Karlo Vieux is a founding member of the iconic, chart-topping Haitian Kompa band CARIMI who, along with fellow founders & bandmates Richard Cavé and Michael Guirand, burst onto the scene with a fresh, innovative sound that shook the airwaves to their core. Whether you were a seasoned or passive Kompa listener back in the day, you had to admit it: there was a new player in town. With Karlo having penned and produced...

Ep. 133 - On Marriage & Manhood (w. Max De La Cruz)

Image
It was only going to be a matter of time before I would have him back on the program. From our first recording together, which you most definitely should check out(Ep. 125) , Max De La Cruz and I have certainly aligned on many levels. From the warrior's mindset, to childishly getting a laugh out of the little whimsical things that occur in our everyday lives, to the undeniable demands of fatherhood, to furthering the necessary conversations about mental health among men...I can quite honestly admit I've made a new friend. This next recording is very much the product of this mutual energy and respect. As we were candidly exchanging back and forth over DM, we eventually got to bounce off different observations in regards to another topic we were both quite versed in : Marriage & Long-Term relationships.  We realized that a lot of the stuff we were discussing could be useful to people and, as these thi...

Ep. 129 - Break Free (w. Coach Michael Taylor)

Image
I have always been quite outspoken about my dedication to encourage a better conversation among Men in regards to their identity and purpose as I believe there is still a lot of work to be done in terms of both communication and mental health.  So when I got acquainted with my next guest and his similar efforts, it was only natural to extend an invitation to be a guest on the podcast. Coach Michael Taylor is an entrepreneur, author, motivational speaker and radio and TV  show host who has dedicated his life to empowering men and women to reach their full potential by transforming their lives from the inside out. He knows first hand how to overcome adversity and build a rewarding and fulfilling life and he is sharing his knowledge and wisdom with others to support them in creating the life of their dreams.   He is the President & CEO of Creation Publishing Group - a company that specializes in ...

Ep. 125 - Foundations of Greatness (w. Max De La Cruz)

Image
To say that my next guest, Max De La Cruz , and I hit it off from Day 1 is an understatement. You guys know this: save for the initial introduction and booking process leading to recording day, the conversations I have the honour of sharing on this podcast are oftentimes the first interaction I have with the guest, .  While I will admit there is some level of risk involved in such a process, I can tell you for a fact that there's a huge and resounding takeaway when you get to connect with someone who, in all honesty, truly happens to be on the same wavelength as you on so many levels. To keep things simple, let's draw up a checklist so you can see what I mean... Dedicated Father - check Loving Husband - check Fun-loving playfulness - check Content creator & vlogger - check Ferocious Entrepreneur - check Author - well, that's still an item I need to knock off my personal bucket list but you guys ...

Ep. 122 - You Are Not Too Much (w. Dennis Gable)

Image
There are no words to faithfully pinpoint the sense of appreciation I have for my next guest. A connection that happened purely by coincidence has since evolved into a wonderful and growing friendship. Through various exchanges, I got to know an individual whose colourful sense of vulnerability and personal truth, topped off with a personality that some might consider somewhat brash, revealed to be just some of his many endearing qualities. But don't let the foul-mouthed, tattooed, gray-haired, unapologetic persona fool you. Dennis Gable is certainly one of the hardest workers out there. Brand Producer & Consultant, Self-Worth Strategist, Podcaster...just to name a few of his many talents. But to me, it's even more personal - Dennis is a truly courageous and heartwarming individual. The kind whose brutal honesty is a gift rather than a nuisance. You need more people like that in...

Ep. 103 - Accept All Parts Of You (w. Pablo J. Rosario)

Image
A really sincere smile and a particular kind of positive energy. That was my first impression of my next guest, Pablo J. Rosario . Pablo is an active professional speaker and relationship coach specializing in helping single men all over the world overcome their individual roadblocks and improve their interpersonal connections, not just with women, but throughout all the various facets of their lives. I especially appreciated our exchange for its candor as Pablo shared his origin story, so to speak, as, like most of the amazing people we've had on this podcast, one can and should make the effort to look to his/her earliest and decisive moments in order to better understand particular patterns. I always enjoy linking up with the kind of individual who makes no apologies for putting his passion and mission at the forefront as he or she aims to serve a genuine sense of purpose. You can't give what...

Ep. 097 - Talking Is Strength (w. Martin Binette)

Image
Facing your demons is a very uncomfortable feeling. But the path towards growth means that one must undoubtedly tread through his or her fair share of discomfort. This conversation was a long time coming. Not only because it covers a topic I've become quite vocal about, but also because it forced me to revisit my own journey towards acceptance. Martin Binette , powerful speaker and mental health advocate was the one I reached out to when I had reached a point where the stress, anxiety, confusion and darkness were rather hard to deal with.  Indeed, it takes a very keen sense of patience, wisdom, and empathy to help someone out in this particular kind of need.  Having dealt with mental health issues in his right for over 20 years, Martin is no stranger to the kind of toxic and oftentimes destructive internal dialogue that can lead to some unfortunate outcomes. Neither Martin nor I ...

Ep. 042 - Success as the Standard (w. Richard Lecoin)

Image
© Zavier De'Angelo (https://www.zavierdeangelo.com/) - All Rights Reserved On this episode, I welcome Richard Lecoin - photographer, model, entrepreneur, husband, father...and many other hats that I myself got to discover from this very impactful conversation. It's one of those truly humbling circumstances where you come out the other end of a great exchange and the only word that can even closely describe it is "Wow". I'll be the first to admit that I did not have much of a laid-out plan as far as this interview was concerned. But in no way did this affect the genuinely inspiring message that Richard had to share. With grace and vulnerability, Richard shares his story of resilience, audacity, patience, loss, self affirmation and humility. I had to sit back and reflect on this one even after the mic was cut off. Grab a seat and open your hearts 'cause this one is an amazing ride. A man of character and a truly outstanding individual, my thanks...
