"Take a chance. Why not?" - that was basically the one and only passing thought that drove me towards reaching out and connecting with my next guest on this new and engaging episode. Emmanuelle Georges -or Emmy, for short- is a speaker, blogger, and founder of the Love Your Body Movement in Haiti. A truly heartwarming and powerful endeavour aimed at the empowerment of women on their individual journey towards self-confidence and self-love. Why I wanted to have Emmy as a guest can be summed up by the following post, which I came across on Instagram, and for a reason I still cannot fully explain - it clicked with me. It really did. A post shared by LOVE-YOUR-BODY (@loveyourbodyht) on Apr 27, 2018 at 8:12am PDT After several views, I had to have her on the program. If only to thank her for her vulnerability and courage to speak out on the need for us to recognise these moments where we are not at our 100%. Through workshops, meetups, conversat
A third appearance on the show is certainly something to acknowledge and celebrate. When certain guests have been such a profound source of support and collaboration, you let them know. It's a true honour to welcome back today's guest on the program. Dionne Nicholls is a professional coach trained through Accomplishment Coaching. From being estranged from her father for years as he was diagnosed with schizophrenia, to giving birth to a son with a rare heart condition, to feeling stuck in a 20-year career and having her 17-year relationship end in betrayal, Dionne knows very well that she does not look like what she's been through. And, that's the point. After an extensive journey of self-reflection and seeking the meaning of why she was put on this planet starting in 2014, she came to the realization that the gift she had to bring to the party of life was JOY. Following a successful 20-year career in the fashion industry, co-founding
This one hits in some pretty uncomfortable places. It's been a long time coming since I said I'd do some sort of mental health/stress-anxiety-depression type of episode but I was never too sure how to frame it or how to get myself out of the bashfulness of sharing my personal struggle. Admission of full honesty right now as I don't really know how to preface this one other than to warn you that a few curse words have made their way into it. Aside from that, I found it truly mattered to keep the conversation going in regards to pulling as much of the veil off the often-overlooked emotional and psychological struggles that we go through on a regular basis, especially men. A rather choppy and chaotic reflection on myself but a satisfied look on my face as it reminds me that, even though I still have work to do, I'm doing a lot better than I used to. And that's Awesome.
